A landed house receives a facelift to recapture the original beauty of the upscale property.
The most noticeable change is the addition of an outdoor kitchen and laundry area. Designed and built on an existing patio area, the kitchen features custom stainless-steel work benches with an integrated basin and three-burner gas stove. The original glass awning was extended to create ample space for meal preparation that is sheltered from the tropical weather and includes integrated ceiling fans and automatic roller blinds to keep the kitchen cool. The laundry area received new tempered glass storage cabinets and a custom stainless-steel workbench with integrated basin for hand washing delicates.
Other upgrades on the property included transitioning an indoor basketball court to a multi-purpose function room, varnishing the four-story staircase, installing new decking around the fishpond and a fresh herb garden near the new outdoor kitchen.

ALMOND STREET

Style Modern luxury
For this four-storey semi-detached project, the client has requested a glamorous dark-themed modern luxury style. The strategy used to achieve this is by embracing opulence to create an overall grandeur design.
Lustrous black is widely used in the living and dining areas to better highlight the streaks of golden finish showcased within the space, while still allowing the reflection of light to keep the space bright. To create a matching atmosphere, dark wooden textures are used on the floors above for a cosier feel when retreating for rest. The elaborate bedroom feature wall designs also contributed to the overall glamour. Not forgetting the smart home technologies within the space such as thumbprint locks and no-touch wardrobe light switches, which finishes the usability of the space.
A new gym is built on level 3 with full-height mirrors and fitness gears, and in the level 4, an awning with outdoor blinds is installed, for the owners to enjoy nights winds and starry skies — the best place for an indoor party.
At the new outdoor BBQ area on the first floor, the raising of the patio floor to match the height of the floor within helped to create the illusion of a larger living space. Carpet grass is laid in the backyard to mimic a home garden, while new landscape planters and turtle pond welcome visitors when entering through the patio.

Type 4 room HDB
Style Eclectic
Calming shades of blue give a cheerful refresh to a 4-room HDB. The nearly 30-year-old flat received a fresh coat of paint and new light fixtures throughout, while deeper renovation works were completed in the entry, dining room and master bedroom. Playful tile at the entry makes for a fun greeting of guests and space was carved out in the adjoining dining room to create a coffee station and wine fridge nook. The focal point of the room, however, is a round magnetic photo board which is a great conversation piece near the dining table and is a unique way to display special memories.
Fulfilling the clients’ request to gain as much storage space as possible in the master bedroom: new his-and-hers wardrobes were built, and storage cabinets were added above the bed. Built-in reading lights and new power points at the bedside tables meet modern day needs, while the new vanity area allows light to fill the room where a full-height cabinet previously stood.

EXQUISITE SKINLABS

This commercial design and build project covered a local spa’s reception area as well as single and double occupancy treatment rooms, consultation room, pedicure zone and bathroom.
The design invokes feelings of peace, nature and tranquility through a pared-down color palette consisting only of white and sage green.
One cannot overlook the major presence of beech wood throughout the spa which brings warmth to the space, as well. Storage capacity was drastically increased for better business functionality and interior styling pulls everything together for a cohesive and complete design.

Style Neon-themed
A neon-themed dog training, daycare, and boarding centre is designed around our furry friends’ lively, playful nature.
The main entryway flooring and an interior feature wall are covered with grass mats to create a maintenance-free outdoor setting. Grey walls enhance the entrance that is adorned with neon lights and spotlights, and stairways and walls that are colourful flow seamlessly with the entrance to bind with the overall design concept. Yellow walls are used in the dog agility area to provide a lively and athletic feel to the space.
To create a cozy boarding area on the second floor, blue-toned walls were selected along with grey flooring to neutralize the theme of the bright blue feature wall, to create a relaxing and homely ambience for our furry guests.

KHK ASIA SHOWROOM
Type Showroom
Style Luxury
An existing luxury bathroom showroom was upgraded to maintain the modernity required of a KOHLER design boutique.
The project involved building custom display stands to increase the flexibility of the space, allowing new products to be arranged in different groupings or moved to other areas of the showroom as needed. Wall finishes and mock vanity areas were also renovated to better highlight the basins and bathtubs on display.
The result is an upscale atmosphere that serves as an inspiring space for homeowners and designers alike.
